A
Teddy Bear Story
Part 2
"Oh My Gosh," said Sebastian,
"isn't that across the Ocean?"
"Yes" said Peter Bear " and
we have to hurry if we are to catch the boat today."
"Why England? asked Sebastian"
as they hurried on their way.
"Well, we will be able to understand
what they say there and I have always
wanted to visit the Tower of London."
It all sounds very
exciting" exclaimed Sebastian, "Who would have thought
when I awoke this morning that I would make a new friend
and start a wonderful adventure such as this!"
They had
a good trip across the Ocean with no unpleasant queezy
feelings in their stomachs and arrived in London on a
cold and rainy day.
"I've heard it often rains
here, noted Peter Bear, "That's why the British Bear
Paddington often carries an umbrella with him!"
They were feeling
rather hungry and dined on a new dish for them both which
the local people called Toad in the Hole (Sausages in a
Battered Pudding), followed by Treacle Tart which
went down a treat! After a very exciting ride on a
Double Decker Bus across London they arrived at the gates
of The Tower of London.
Sebastian was a little daunted by what
he saw and said to Peter Bear: " Hmmm! I don't know about
this??"
But Peter reassured him that everything
would be okay. A friendly Yeoman of the Guard greeted them
and jokingly said: "Be sure to keep your Head at all times
whilst in the Tower."
This didn't help much to make poor
Sebastian feel anymore comfortable! However, once they had
safely visited and survived the Bloody Tower, Sebastian
was feeling much more confident that they would be okay
and just started to enjoy the many things to see when Peter
Bear thought out loud: " I wonder if we will see any Headless
Ghosts roaming the Halls?"
"Headless!!" cried Sebastian.
"Oh yes" said Peter, and proceeded
to tell him of the many unfortunate people who had entered
through Traitors Gate and had lost their heads for acts
of Treason and such other dreadful accusations! Poor
Sebastian loosened his Scarf nervously.
Just then, they were both alerted to
yells of "Stop that man!!!"
All of a sudden they were
confronted with a man running towards them in great haste
carrying a sack on his shoulder. Peter Bear pulled Sebastian
to him. As he did so, Sebastian's scarf fell onto the
floor and tangled in the legs of the fleeing man. The
man tripped and tumbled, finally landing at their feet
as his sack flew through the air opening to reveal the
Coronation Crown, which landed in Peter Bear's Hands.
"Hooray", cried the pursuing
Guards, "you have both saved the Royal Coronation
Crown and are heros! The Queen will be most grateful
for your bravery!!"
Peter and Sebastian stared
at each other bewildered as they were carried above the
heads of the Yeoman Guards.
Peter stuttered to Sebastian:
"Does this mean we will be as famous as Paddington and
Pooh Bear?"
Sebastian didn't reply.
His attention had been quickly distracted by a small sign,
which read, "Afternoon Tea, Scones and Honey". All
the excitement had made him hungry. As they polished
off the last of the Bakers Dozen of scones (thirteen)
Sebastian said: " This is fun, where
to next?"
I have decided we will
leave England for a bit, said Peter Bear, and travel
in the air to Canada.
Sebastian looked at Peter and said:
I hope you do not think I could fly you on my back, that
is too far away?
Peter Bear looked at Sebastian and
giggled. Oh no, we will have to take a large plane and
travel in comfort and get a good rest for our next adventure.
So off they went to the airport to
fly to
CANADA...
